From March 3 to 6, 2025, the WRHM2SCA 1st Quarterly Meeting was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding equipment (SpectroTRACER Aqua CeBr3 1.5 with GSM/3/4G/LTE), which is expected to be delivered by early April this year, along with its FAT testing in Germany.

The project Team Leader presented a comprehensive report outlining five critical changes in the project and underscored the importance of establishing a robust regulatory framework in each participating country.

Furthermore, discussions focused on team organization, highlighting the need for further development of local teams in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Finally, dates were established for interim meetings to prepare the Work Package, and a T5 was scheduled prior to the initiation of the work.

As part of the meeting, a courtesy visit was conducted at the "Ionosphere Institute," led by the new ISTC's Executive Director and his deputy.

The Institute Director graciously welcomed the guests and highlighted that the Institute is one of the oldest research institutions in Kazakhstan and the sole entity in Central Asia dedicated to ionospheric studies, comprising seven specialized laboratories for and geodynamic research.

The Parties exchanged insights and underscored the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation within the framework of the WRHM2CA-PR206 project.

The WRHM2CA project plays a vital role in addressing climate change impacts across Central Asia by enhancing regional water monitoring systems and expanding laboratory capacities focused on uranium legacy sites in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

Through a network of precise, cost-effective, and compatible sensors and lab equipment tailored to each country, it creates a robust data system ready to aid in environmental crises.

Seamlessly integrated into national Environmental Security frameworks, this initiative empowers better collaboration and deeper insight into protecting natural resources and critical infrastructure from the evolving challenges of climate change.
