Planned Coordination Meeting Between Project Team Leader and Beneficiaries (KG, TJ, UZ) on SpectroTRACER Aqua Deployment

October 8, 2025, а scheduled coordination meeting was held between the Project Team Leader and beneficiary representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to discuss the deployment and operational integration of the SpectroTRACER Aqua gamma detector for radiological water monitoring. The session focused on the technical capabilities of the device, installation requirements, and its role in strengthening regional environmental safety systems.

The Team Leader provided detailed clarifications on the detector’s functionality, emphasizing its ability to continuously monitor gamma radiation in water bodies and detect both natural and artificial radionuclides. The system is designed for rapid response in contamination scenarios and is equipped with a waterproof casing suitable for installation in rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. It supports remote data transmission and is compatible with SCADA systems and other monitoring platforms.

Installation conditions were discussed in depth, with recommendations to place the detectors near potential pollution sources such as industrial zones and mining sites. Site selection should consider hydrological and logistical factors, as highlighted during consultations with Dr. Philippe Geffroy. The group also reviewed measurement modes, including background monitoring (daily or weekly), emergency mode (every 10–30 minutes), and periodic testing (quarterly).

Following the technical review, beneficiaries agreed to jointly prepare and submit a comprehensive technical specification to the Project Team Leader within 10 calendar days. This document will outline proposed installation sites, preferred measurement modes, data collection frequency, and integration requirements with existing national monitoring systems.

To ensure successful implementation, the meeting concluded with a set of recommendations and next steps: coordinating technical parameters with the equipment supplier; training personnel in operation, calibration, and data interpretation; developing response protocols for radiation threshold exceedance; integrating SpectroTRACER Aqua data into regional monitoring systems; and continuing consultations with the Project Team Leader to refine installation strategies.

This meeting represents a key milestone in advancing cross-border collaboration and enhancing radiological water safety across Central Asia.
